Delete your SeaMemo account

You decide how long your data stays with us. Your account can be deleted at any time straight from the app – no questions asked, no notice period, no need to contact us first.

Deletion is permanent. Trips, legs, photos, journal entries, voice memos, statistics and uploaded certificates are removed for good and cannot be restored – not even by us. Export anything you want to keep first (trip PDF, sea-miles certificates).

Delete in the app

  1. Open SeaMemo and sign in

Deletion requires an active session – that is how we make sure the request really comes from the account owner.

  2. Go to Settings

Tap Profile at the bottom, then open Settings at the top right. You'll find the Account section there.

  3. Tap “Delete account”

It sits at the end of the Account section, below “Log out”.

  4. Confirm twice

SeaMemo asks twice for safety (“Delete account?” and “Really delete?”). After that the deletion runs immediately and you are returned to the login screen.

Uninstalling the app is not enough. Removing SeaMemo from your device leaves your account and cloud data intact. To delete them for good, run the in-app deletion above or ask us by email.

What gets deleted

Once you confirm, we permanently remove:

  • Your user account with email address, password hash and profile
  • Every trip you created or skippered – including legs, GPS tracks, photos, journal entries, crew lists and checklists
  • Your contributions to other people's trips: legs you recorded, journal entries and notes you wrote
  • Profile picture, uploaded licences and qualifications, and charter check photos
  • Friendships, friend requests and the last approximate position you shared
  • Your statistics, personal checklist templates and any open trip invitations

What stays – and why

A trip rarely belongs to one person alone. Trips where you were only a crew member therefore stay intact for everyone else on board: otherwise your deletion would destroy other people's logbooks and mileage proof. Everything you contributed is removed from those trips, and your name is taken off the crew. Items ticked on shared checklists stay ticked but lose their attribution to you.

Photos your crew mates already downloaded, or PDFs they exported, may still exist on their devices – those are beyond our reach. And where the law requires us to retain records (billing data, for example), the applicable statutory period applies.

When the data is really gone

Deletion starts the moment you confirm and is normally finished within seconds. Copies held in encrypted database backups expire automatically afterwards; at the latest 30 days after deletion those are gone too. From the moment you confirm, we can no longer restore your account.

Request deletion by email

Locked out of your account – lost credentials, no suitable device left? Then we'll take care of it. Write to [email protected] from the address your account is registered with, using the subject “Delete account”. We confirm receipt and delete the account within 30 days, usually much sooner.

Questions first? The Privacy Policy explains what SeaMemo stores in the first place; anything else is answered by Support.
