The logbook for everything you experience on the water
SeaMemo records your trips by GPS and turns them into a shared travel journal: route, photos, log and crew in one place. And when you go for a licence, the sea-miles certificate for Germany & Austria comes with a single tap.
Every trip becomes a story
Track it, remember it, share it: SeaMemo is with you from casting off to the last sundowner – and keeps everything worth keeping.
Cast off. SeaMemo writes the rest.
Route, distance, speed and duration are recorded automatically – in the background, easy on the battery and, out at sea, even without a signal. With a dedicated mode for sailing and motoring; weather, wind and harbours are added the moment you close a leg.
- Offline tracking – syncs the moment you're back in range
- Edit legs afterwards or add entire past trips
- Night miles & night approaches detected automatically
Every leg becomes a chapter
Photos, journal entries, weather and harbours – captured exactly where they happened. The trip pulls it all into one story you'll open years later and instantly recognise: that was the bay with the morning coffee.
- Photos & notes per leg and per trip
- Weather, wind and position included automatically
- Legs without a photo show your route as a map image
One trip. Every memory. For everyone.
Invite your crew with a link: everyone tracks, shoots and writes along. Afterwards each person takes the shared miles and memories into their own profile – instead of chasing photos around a WhatsApp group.
- Crew invite by link – everyone on board can contribute
- Photos, journal & legs land in the shared trip
- The miles count for the whole crew
Your sailing résumé grows with you
Nautical miles, hours at sea, trips and average speed: your profile collects what you experience automatically – including a personal Sea Map with every route you've ever sailed.
- Night miles, harbours, longest & fastest leg
- Sailing vs. motoring and skipper vs. crew at a glance
- Your scanned licences & qualifications always on hand
See where your friends are sailing right now
Connect with your sailing friends and see who's on a trip on the 3D globe. Only the approximate position is shared – only while you're recording and only with confirmed friends.
- Interactive globe with your friends as pins
- Approximate position only (~10 km) – no live tracking
- Opt-in and switchable off at any time
From your wake to a signed sea-miles certificate
You're logging your miles with SeaMemo anyway. When you go for a licence, one tap turns them into the official proof for SKS & SSS (Germany) and FB1–FB4 (Austria) – no copying out, no guessing, no paper chaos.

Provisioning, gear, cast-off drills: the whole crew ticks off shared trip checklists, personal lists stay with you – and next time you know exactly what to bring.
Emergency know-how, always at hand
Man overboard, Mayday, fire on board: concise guidance for the moment it matters, plus proven tips against seasickness – offline too, for when you really need them.

You can switch languages any time in the app's settings. This website is available in English and German.

What exactly is SeaMemo?
SeaMemo is a digital logbook and travel journal in one: the app records your trips by GPS, collects photos, journal entries and crew moments per leg – and, if you want, turns them into official sea-miles certificates for Germany and Austria.
Does tracking work without internet at sea?
Yes. Recording runs on GPS and works independently of the mobile network – in the background too, so no part of your trip is lost. As soon as you're back in range, everything syncs.
Can my crew contribute to the logbook?
Yes. You invite your crew to the trip with a link, everyone can track and add photos and entries – and each person keeps the shared memories and miles in their own profile.
Can my friends see where I am all the time?
No. The friends radar shows confirmed friends only your approximate position (accurate to about 10 km) and only while you're recording a trip. Sharing is opt-in and can be switched off at any time.
Is SeaMemo suitable for motorboats too?
Yes. Tracking has a dedicated motor mode, your stats separate sailing and motoring hours – and the sea-miles certificates apply to sailing and motorboat licences alike.
Does SeaMemo create official sea-miles certificates?
Yes. SeaMemo transfers your GPS-recorded trips automatically into the prescribed or recommended forms for SKS and SSS (Germany) and FB1–FB4 (Austria) and produces a PDF. Your skipper signs once, right in the app – after that you export your certificates yourself.
Which licences does SeaMemo support?
Forms for the German licences SKS and SSS and the Austrian certificates FB1 to FB4. The Swiss confirmation for the offshore licence is in the works – until then your SeaMemo logbook provides the documented basis.
How many sea miles do I need for the SKS?
To be admitted to the SKS exam you must prove 300 nautical miles on yachts in coastal waters – sailed with the propulsion type you're taking the licence for. The miles may also have been collected before the SBF-See licence.
What must a sea-miles certificate contain?
Typically: the crew member's name, boat name and type, sailing area or route, dates from/to, distance sailed in nautical miles, role on board, plus the skipper's name and signature.
Which languages is SeaMemo available in?
The app comes in seven languages: German, English, Italian, French, Croatian, Greek and Spanish. On first launch SeaMemo follows your device language – handy when your crew comes from several countries, because everyone sees the same trip in their own language. You can change it any time in the app's settings.
What does SeaMemo cost?
SeaMemo is currently free for iOS and Android. Download it now and you'll lock in a lifetime price or a substantial discount when the premium features launch.
